Put The ‘Strategy’ In Your Content Strategy!

We can’t stress it enough content is big, and it’s gaining a foothold in companies worldwide. While many workers are trying to convince their companies to invest in content marketing, it’s important to distinguish between simply pushing content versus developing a content strategy.

Consider these things when developing a content strategy in order to ensure your content has purpose and meets your overall goals.

Dare To Be Different

We’re surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of marketing messages on a daily basis, and it becomes a bit like white noise. We often tune out ads on the television or on the side of your Google search results.

Stand out from the white noise. Do something unique. Catch your audience by surprise, capturing their emotions and their logic. Relate your product to them, and show them how it makes them part of something bigger.

Strike A Balance

Some content sells, and some content educates. Approach your content with the purpose of educating, and a goal of selling. Content that is overly sales-y is an instant turn-off for an audience, but your educational content ultimately must sell in order to be effective.

Our client Action Karate Plymouth Meeting provides an example in their blogs, educating about the benefits children receive from karate classes. They promote a philosophy of internal growth in their blog posts, maintaining an educational and inspirational tone. Yet it’s important that a blog still convince readers to convert, and Action Karate shows what it can offer families without becoming crass in its calls to action.

Follow The Trends

Yes, it may sound contradictory to the first point of standing out. Fact is, choosing trending topics that are timely and relevant is important in drawing in visitors. That doesn’t mean you can’t take a unique approach to a popular topic!

Can your product help someone revive their quickly-fading New Year’s resolution? Can you incorporate the Golden Globes into your next blog? Keep your content relevant, and bring a unique spin to the topics people are looking for.

Keep It Interesting

Spark some conversations. Get people to think, debate, and share. Get people passionate about a topic, even one that seems small. A post on my neighborhood’s Facebook page recently exploded with debate over local cat colonies! Framing your content from a fresh and unique lens can get people worked up over topics they never knew they cared about.

Beyond simply using the right lens, keep your content varied, we can’t stress this often enough! Keep a variety of visuals, videos, memes, infographics whatever you can come up with to keep your visitors on their toes.

On a final point, maintain and stick to a list of editorial guidelines, including grammatical rules, tone, and style. Google takes these things into account when determining rank!

Considering these points can help boost your content strategy, ensuring that everything you churn out supports your overall goals and helps generate conversions and loyal customers. Contact Sweet Rose Studios for help with your content strategy.
