Turn Blogging Obstacles Into Stepping Stones!

By May 27, 2014October 22nd, 2020No Comments

‘Content marketing’ is a shiny buzz-phrase that makes marketing departments tick. The average customer may have no idea what this means, however This type of marketing is based off of generated media that companies use to interact with their audience.

One technique we use at Sweet Rose Studios is blogging. No longer a lame activity for quiet people with too much to say, businesses today use blogging to show their humane side. It’s a way to establish a sense of being relatable. Pushing Social published an article this month about 7 common blogging problems and tips to finding a solution.

All of Sweet Rose Studios’ clients include a blog on their website to aid in customer relations. We write about recent projects, completed assignments, business history, new products, and exciting hires while you get to read all about it.

After reading Pushing Social’s blogging tips, it’s clear to see relevance in Sweet Rose Studios businesses: here are a few connections!

Obstacle 2: No Ideas –> Stepping Stone 2: Draw from Current or Past Projects

Blogging might seem like a hassle when writer’s block strikes. However our clients are always developing new ideas and tackling more projects, therefore generating content without even knowing it. Recently Shawn Lafferty, owner of LaffCo. Painting redid the siding on his home. Ever wonder what a professional painter’s personal project looks like?

Obstacle 4: Teeny-tiny Audience –>Stepping Stone 4: Email Newsletters

The thought of writing about something you’re passionate about your business can be extremely inspirational, but it might have the opposite effect of stage fright. Why bother exerting the effort if no one is watching? That’s where a newsletter comes in.

Synergy Print Design, a Screen Printing Studio, sends an e-newsletter every 4-6 weeks to alert customers on promotions and recent project.

This kind of outreach is great at communicating to, to your (albeit) small audience, and impacts them personally. Regardless of the size of your customer base, reaching out via email can be an eye-catching way to show off your creative and writing chops.

Obstacle 7: No Traffic –> Stepping Stone 7: More Articles, More Results

Blogging does wonders for website traffic. Each time a new post is added, it increases your site’s probability of appearing in a search engine. Similar to obstacle 4, this obstacle shouldn’t really slow your roll. For example, Garrett Churchill landscaping showcases their projects on the website’s blog.

After writing about a drainage project in Jamison, the Garrett Churchill website comes up first for the search term “exterior drainage Jamison.” The same thing occurred when a post went up about a patio in Maple Glen. Even a more generic phrase, like landscape design trends, reveals Garrett Churchill in the 10 search results.

Pushing Social’s tips are applicable to any blogger – social or business related. When applied to Sweet Rose Studios, the obstacles seem reasonably manageable.
