Cyber Monday ShoppingWith the holidays approaching, the most important shopping day of the year is upon us. No, I’m not talking about Black Friday, but the more recently popular Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is predicted to surpass Black Friday this year in terms of sales.

What does this mean for marketers?

In the Fox Business article, Cyber Monday Marketing Tips from Ecommerce Pros by Natalia Angulo, she explains that even though this year could be the bleakest holiday shopping seasons ever, mobile and tablet purchases are predicted to be at an all time high.

Here are some tips to help you take advantage of your online presence in order to obtain greater sales this holiday season:

#1: Shipping Promotions

One of shoppers’ biggest fears when ordering products online is that they will not receive them in time to wrap them up for their loved ones. Offering fast shipping, free shipping, or announcing order today and get it before Christmas, will ease customer worries and help generate sales.

#2: Engage in Social Media

With more shoppers on their mobile devices and tablets this season, using social media outlets such as Twitter and Pinterest can help advertise your products. For example, Zappos.com launched a new Pinterest widget which allows users to observe what products are trending in real-time, allowing live access to Christmas lists.

#3: Optimize Mobile Experience

Update your website by making it more user friendly and easier for customers to get what they want. Add pictures and holiday decorations to your site to spice it up. The easier and more holiday-friendly your site is on a mobile device or tablet, the more customers will tend to stay on your site.

#4: Holiday Pages

Go beyond the holiday decorations and pictures and add a page that allows customers to find gifts easier. Add a gift guide page with ‘his’ and ‘her’ tabs, and different price ranges to make holiday shopping faster, easier, and essentially painless for your customers this year.
